About Therapeutic Boarding Schools in Idaho

Troubled Teen Schools in Idaho

An alternative or therapeutic boarding school in Idaho must be licensed by the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare. The Idaho Code outlines the standards for children’s residential care facilities throughout the state. Such standards include outlining intake policies, ensuring the physical care and safety of residents and requiring a criminal history check on all employees, owners and operators.

According to state statute, Idaho private schools within a therapeutic boarding school may seek accreditation, but it is optional. Idaho also has no requirements outlined for registration, licensing or approval. Teachers at the schools must be state certified and all employees must submit to and meet Idaho‘s criminal history check requirements.

Clearview is set in the beautiful mountains nearby the year-round resort town of Sandpoint, Idaho. Girls attend Clearview from every state. Enrollment is year-round and caring transport for your girl can be arranged if she is reluctant to get the kind of help Clearview provides.

With expert psychotherapists dealing in teen issues, Clearview’s multi-disciplinary team is dedicated to helping each girl start on a new and more productive path in life. The clinical staff on and off campus include psychiatric specialists, primary care physicians, a dentist, an orthodontist, and licensed psychotherapists as well as teachers, mentors and residential care staff.

Clearview Girls AcademyThe Clearview Girls Academy experience is not short-term. Our program is designed to last for a minimum of twelve months. If we could help your girl have lifelong success with a shorter term program, we would do that, since there is an ongoing need for help by families across America and around the world. We’ve learned that one year is the minimum time required for most girls to: become open to change, accept that they need help, learn from our therapists, and to put new behaviors and thinking into habitual practice. For some girls, it can take many months of counseling before they even begin to get to the bottom of their internal issues, and then more time is needed to work through those issues and the ways for the girl to cope more positively.

Resident girls receive an individual treatment plan aligned with their medical, emotional, psychological, educational and spiritual needs. The Clearview program is very personable and relational, but highly structured. Teachers are on site to ensure that all students continue their academic progress and Clearview is fully accredited through the Northwest Accreditation Commission (NWAC).

Clearview Girls Academy is a Christian Boarding School. The girls attend church, Bible study and say grace at dinner. We offer compassionate care to students of all beliefs.

Clearview Girls AcademyClearview provides innovative therapy techniques including individual, group and family therapy. We have a Chemical Dependency Counselor on staff to provide extra support in dealing with the unique issues associated with drug addictions. The goal is to uncover the psychological factors contributing to the student’s unhealthy behavioral choices. The student will then learn therapeutic tools that will assist her for the rest of her life to be a healthy woman.

In the beautiful environment, students find the strength to overcome their issues and bad motivations. Students will attend school, receive tutoring when necessary, and participate in after school activities. They provide vocational training for students over the age of 18.

Clearview Girls AcademyKeeping Parents Informed

Families are encouraged to come and visit their daughter after an appropriate number of family therapy phone calls. When the visits occur there will be face to face family therapy with a psychotherapist. Each visit has a set of behavioral goals which the student works on during this time.

Family therapy occurs during family visits, weekend retreats, and on the phone.

Activities

Clearview emphasizes a healthy, nutritionally-balanced diet along with physical activities, restful sleep and fun times; all designed to teach a healthy lifestyle. Girls participate in many outdoor and recreational events during the year, as well as organized team sports. Girls also enjoy periodic camping and hiking outings in the beautiful and rugged mountains of the Pacific Northwest. For spiritual support, girls are given encouragement and instruction by Christian staff and attend non-denominational church services. The students are required to attend church services, youth group, and bible study, but they are not forced to participate in these activities.

Clearview Girls AcademyDuring the school year the girls may participate in a number of activities: aerobics, self-defense lessons, dance, river rafting, and rock climbing. Winter finds the girls snowboarding on Schweitzer Mountain and snowshoeing or sledding at the lodge.

Summer activities for the girls may include horseback riding, biking, hiking, river rafting, rock climbing, fishing, camping and playing sports.

Idaho Youth Ranch

When Idaho youth need our help, we assess their challenges, their circumstances, their needs, and their support system in order to find the best path for a promising future.

We begin by identifying the best treatment path based on the child’s need and the family situation and use a unique combination of methods to help each child address their challenges. While we are treating the youth, we work directly with the family so that when they are reunited, the family is better able to communicate and avoid future issues.
