All children’s residential providers, including alternative and therapeutic boarding schools, must be licensed through the Missouri Department of Social Services Children’s Division, specifically the Residential Program Unit (RPU). It ensures that private children’s residential care centers are in compliance with state rules and standards for licensure.
For Missouri private schools, there are no licensing requirements and accreditation is not required. Teachers are not required to be certified and there is no state policy on professional development. State testing is not required for students of private Missouri schools but schools must instruct students on the Constitution of the United States, Missouri history and American history. To graduate, students must pass an exam on these subjects. Student immunization records are required for enrollment .
